Terrains II
Next, I decided to to a study of desert geological formations, insprired by Dead Horse Canyon in Utah.
I experimented with converting the landscape to geometry and baking out detailed maps from that, but it was very slow and came out with giant files and poor results.
It may have better results if broken into chunks, but the better approach would be to focus on small, tiled textures which are broken up with masking and other elements of the environment such as foliage and rocks.
